Young Guns In Downpatrick Charity Pedal

The Downpatrick Third World Tour charity cycle on Sunday was expertly organised by Dromara CC. The sun was shining, there was a big field of almost 170 competitors for the main 60 miles event, which was followed by the family 10 miles pedal - the perfect way to kick off the Easter holidays!
Young Guns Max and Emer Melville were there with YoungER Gun brother Hugo, the youngest rider on the day at 5 years old. They dragged their parents around with them - still reeling from their debut Tri - A - Tri a few weeks ago!
The riders headed off from Downpatrick Cricket Club, with Hugo very excited to be on the real road and doing the roundabout before joining the cycle path which runs from Downpatrick the entire way to Crossgar. The little tired legs were met by lovely ladies after 5 miles in Crossgar with loads of refreshments, bananas for fuel for homeward journey and chocolate and juice.
Tanks full the 5 miles back was faster, easier and great fun. The kids chatted the whole way with lots of laughs and the perfect trip for kids on bikes of all ages, a great route for families.
So dust down your bikes, oil your pedals, get out and about on your bikes at Easter .....and definitely put this event in your calendar for next year, and all in aid of a good cause too!!
