The Tiny life Towpath challenge set off on Sunday morning with a few local girls raising funds for this very worthwhile cause and setting themselves a challenge in the process... Tanya Lindsay (Mc Corry) sister of belle Julie has a few words to share about the day.

Sunny sunday morning and the weather was looking promising for our very 1st cycle challenge, the Tinylife Towpath challenge from Portadown to Newry.

I met up with Susan and Christine at 9am in Portadown and  made our way to the start not knowing what lay ahead. I was taking my new bike 'Roger the Ridgeback to his first (of many I hope) official cycling event. The first half we were going great, despite the strong wind AND then came the driving rain!! Uh oh!

Surely Newry is just around the corner we hoped... The end was finally in sight and at that point it couldnt come soon enough with susan having a severe cramp in her thigh,  just think of all the wee tiny babys I said.

Christine cycled on ahead but unfortunately with no marshalls at the end to direct us to either tearooms or the trainstation Susan was wondering if it would be ok to throw her  BORROWED BIKE into the newry canal! Lol.

Anyway after a very long HILLY trek to newry train station we were rescued by susans husband and his van.  Many laughs and near tears were had and overall we had a great day! 20 mile may not be far too some but yesterday at times it felt like our alps!! Ding dong!!

Well done ladies, great achievement and what a great cause. Hopefully see you out soon for more biking fun (that's if Susan didn't throw the bike in the Newry Canal!?) wink

Keep in touch via the website and belles Facebook page for more events coming up and if anyone is interested in getting a cycling group set up in ther local area we would love to help.
