Craigavon ‘Mudbath’ Ulster XC MTB - Round 6

Julie hadn't checked the weather forecast, so turned up at the Craigavon Lakes for the Ulster XC MTB race on Saturday wearing a leopard skin bikini! Thankfully the muck prevented the embarrassment of a wet pink see-through Belles jersey... Pheeeew
The sports class (both men and women) kicked off at approx 12.30pm and veered into a tight first 'unexpected' corner. Well, it wouldn't have been unexpected if some of us had have perhaps ridden the course in 'preparation'!! This ended up in a bit of a bottle neck but all riders got away safely into to what turned out to be a very fast race with lots of fun single track.
All 4 Belles (and the bump) were out today in support (for the Young Guns before the Sports class), which is a rare sight given their hectic lifestyles. There were lots of words of encouragement when Julie and the others passed by each lap, although it was really Fred that was getting the most support...if anyone knows who he is?!?!
Julie had a great race with Wendy Barry, who got an awesome start and held a strong pace well into lap 2. However Julie then slipped into 1st and held her position strong to the finish line, (taking out a few boys along the way of course). Great racing girls and well done to everyone who had a go. As always a big thanks to everyone involved in the organising and for providing the yummy refreshments!
Lets hope we have a few of you Monthlies on the start line with us next time! Ahem....which would be Tollymore this Sunday...12 September!
