Colin Gets Young Guns Blazing At Ormeau

Colin Ross, Former Irish Downhill Mountain Bike Champion and Bikedock sponsored rider, got the Young Guns blazing at the debut skills session in Ormeau Park on Saturday. Leader of the Young Guns, Fraser Harrower, had called on kids aged 4-12 years old and of any ability to join in the fun afternoon and “eat my dirt” !
With a maximum number of 20, there was quite a waiting list ! Fear not, given the success of Saturday, there will be plenty of Young Guns events on a regular basis.
After a short spell in the Bikedock warehouse, Colin and the kids (with parents in tow!) walked across to the BMX track at Ormeau park, where the young riders were split into three groups and rotated around three different skills areas.
From the youngest kids on balance bikes like the JD Bug
to the experienced…yes even at 7-11 years old!!.... Irish and Ulster XC and Cyclo Cross riders on Ridgebacks and Saracens
everybody loved the afternoon!
Biking whilst learning, having fun and making new friends for 1 hr 15 mins at the park, before Colin showed them some of his own stunts – not to be tried at home !!

The afternoon ended with masses of gorgeous pizza for kids and parents, courtesy of Little Wing little Wing Pizzeria, who are keen to back the Young Guns and the Bikedock Belles initiatives. Little Wing prides itself in healthy products and is right behind a healthy lifestyle. Cycling and Pizza – the perfect combo! The Young Guns all agree with that !
