Two of the Monthlies, Claire Montgomery and Emma Ferguson, have today arrived in Budapest and tomorrow will begin a 300km cycle challenge over 3 days and take in 3 European capital cities. The ride is a charity challenge for the British Heart Foundation.
Claire and Emma happened to come across the Belles (unfortunately for them!) the first Saturday in July at The Glens Of Antrim 100km charity cycle, which was part of the Make A Difference initiative to raise funds for orphans in Malawi.
Before the start, Claire approached the Bidedock van wanting help because she was worried that her friend's knobbly mountain bike tyres would be too much work on the route. Claire had a spare semi slick tyre, but didn't know how to change it – the Belles pretended they did! Bluffed their way, and then stepped up to the challenge and sent them on their merry way. Claire told us about the 300km European cycle challenge that day, and said she'd love to join the Belles on some of their spins. And so Claire and Emma joined the merry band of Monthlies in July.
They have really taken to cycling and shown true determination in getting to the start line in Budapest this week. The Belles have no doubt that they are going to absolutely love the 3-day charity ride and bring back lots of stories to inspire other females to give themselves such a target.
