The Belles successfully completed the gruelling Transalp MTB challenge on Saturday - celebrating 8 consecutive days of relentless ascents and risky descents (even the downhills seemed like uphills!) by jumping into Lake Garda after crossing the finish line. This is an event full of pros and semi-pros - and the only way we got recognition was by the Ding Dong shorts - an official photo of which made the final prize-giving night's "pictures of the day" !
Transalp is the toughest MTB endurance race in Europe - and it lives up to its name of breaking many participants. 556 pairs started the event on Day 1 but by Day 8 over 100 had not made the finish line as a pair for the 8 gruesome days.
Physical and emotional limits are tested to the full.
The Belles completed the event in support of the Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF).
